The much loved Beatrix Potter characters we know so well provide a perfect theme for birthday parties and christenings and endless possibilities for cakes and sweet treats. The original drawings are stunning translated into all sorts of party decorations and make beautiful sugar models on cakes. We can also do the more modern CBeebies versions if your little one prefers these or we can stick to the traditional versions of Peter Rabbit, Mrs Tiggywinkle and Jemima Puddleduck.
A Peter Rabbit cake was on the cards for Robin’s daughter this year, so in order to make it look both creative and fun, Robin set about browsing through the local garden centre in order to look for creative and themed miniature props to use on the cake. One trip and a considerable amount of supplies later and the party is almost all stocked and ready to go.
In place of bowls and trays, delicate wooden seedling boxes and miniature plastic flower pots were used and filled with delicious goodies for the kids to munch on. A series of garden signs were given a home to mark what the food was and plain hessian sacks added to the ‘garden feel’. Robin finished everything off by decorating the table with a few carrots and beetroot from the local greengrocers; Peter Rabbits favourite food.
Robin selected a few inexpensive balloons in pink, yellow and green along with a party bag to send the children off with once they had finished playing. They are simple aspects of the party yet because it fit the theme and was set out in a clear, easy to understand manner, it made the party a complete success!
